I'd say like a 1. First off, I follow Sylvester on IG and his tidbits he shares on there is what sparked me to buy the book; I figured - as I'm sure most of the low-star reviewers did - that the book itself would have MORE than those little blurbs do, but it really doesn't.
It's pretty much all common sense and quite frankly there are so many pages of his little musings that it's just a waste of paper. His stories and the way he writes is also not very helpful at all; the way he writes is I'd say like a 1. His stories and the way he writes is also not very helpful at all; the way he writes is quite indicative of someone with narcissistic personality tendencies who also has a common grasp on mental health.
People like this are good at making the reader think they are reading something of substance by someone who understands them when in reality this is not the case. This is not "a path to deep healing" but instead should be considered more as just peeling off the very first layer of your trauma; it's not helpful for anyone who already is vastly aware they have healing to do or deeply rooted issues to address.

I have changed my mind after reading this book. I will continue to follow him on Instagram because I do find some of what he has to say worthwhile. I am not discouraging people from reading this book. It is a very easy read; you could probably finish it in one day if you wanted to. It is that easy of a read, however I found it difficult to stick with because of the redundancy, which lead to boredom.
And you know you are frustrated with a book when you find yourself shaking your head or rolling your eyes! I found myself doing this because some of the content was just Towards the end I just wanted to be done with the book. Don't purchase the book as I did. Borrow or better yet find it in a library. I have been a follower of Sylvester on Instagram and was intrigued to purchase his book since the content he posts on social media is uplifting and inspiring.
The overall takeaway I got from this book was about setting personal boundaries and being unapologetic for putting yourself and your needs first. In a world where self-help books run rampant, this one is simple, straight to the point, and no fluff. Young readers could easily read and understand this book.
